Colonel Robert J. (Joe) Stark, Sr.

Joe joined as a volunteer firefighter in 1950, was named Chief in January 1954 and retired as the Chief in 1987. He was well known and well liked throughout the community. Joe and his wife Wanda owned and operated the old B & F Food Center, on Beulah Church Road at Fegenbush Lane, and Joe drove a school bus for 35 years. Joe’s leadership and dedication are credited for the progress the Highview Fire District has made in firefighting and public service. He laid a firm foundation on which we still build on today.
